Panola Mountain State Park

Panola Mountain
November 07, 2016 by Shawn Taylor in parks

Panola Mountain is a granite outcrop, similar to Stone Mountain and Arabia Mountain.

There is a 20-mile PATH trail connecting Panola Mountain to Arabia Mountain and other local destinations. The PATH trail has paved and boardwalk sections, and is suitable for cycling as well as walking.

Hikes to the top of the mountain are only available when a ranger is leading them, to protect the unique and sensitive ecosystem of the mountain. These hikes are offered often. There are also other nature trails available that do not require a ranger guide.

Address: 2620 Hwy. 155, SW, Stockbridge, GA 30281
Admission: Free, $5 parking
Acres: 1,635
Approximate miles of trails: 25
Hours: 7:00am to dark
Miles from downtown Atlanta: 18
Trail surface: The vast majority of trail mileage is paved/boardwalk PATH trail. The rest is mostly natural surface.

Features:

  • Campsites

  • Archery range

  • Picnic tables
